MAPOLY TETFUND projects: The Ogun State government has inaugurated Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment worth N80 million at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the equipment, funded by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), comprised of 280 sets of computer systems and generators, among others.
During the inauguration of the MAPOLY Abeokuta campus, the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, stated that the equipment would improve teaching in the university.
Arigbabu praised the institution’s management for taking the initiative to access the fund and stressed the role of technology in all aspects of human endeavor.
Primary and secondary schools in the state will also receive sufficient funding, according to the commissioner.
ICT equipment to assist youths in properly preparing for the future.
“It is impossible to overstate the role of technology in teaching and learning.
“This is why the governor has given us the mandate to ensure that we intensify the use of technology even in our primary and secondary schools,” he said.
The initiative, according to the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Adeoye Odedeji, would improve teaching and learning at the college.
He went on to say that the ventures would be beneficial to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) as well as other academic endeavors.
Odedeji praised the government’s massive efforts to promote education in the state.
He promised that the university will continue to produce deserving ambassadors for the country.
